Pics from my Confirmation. The priest with me in the first picture is the amazing Canon Halloran, who gives very...intense...homilies in an equally intense Scottish brogue.
Special thanks to Mrs. Cogdell (a.k.a., to Maeve, 'Mommy Amy'), my sponsor in absentia.
Congratulations Sophia. You love absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou really do look beautiful, Sophia. Of course I think you are beautiful all the time. How impressive that you managed your Confirmation for your time in Scotland. You will probably never forget even one minute of it. I am very proud of you.
ReplyDeleteLove you,
Gramma
We will have a proper reception when we get back to the States. I do wish we could have shared Sophia's Confirmation with our family and friends in Austin, but the diocese is firm about having Confirmations at Pentecost only, and since we would be away, we were faced with the choice of getting permission to have her confirmed here, or having her wait another year.
ReplyDeleteIn Scotland, Confirmation is done at First Communion, when they're little; Fr. Halloran thought at first that it was Maeve who was to be confirmed! But the Cardinal gave permission and Fr. Halloran confirmed her with great beauty and dignity, Sophia kneeling at the altar steps (wish I could have gotten a photo of that!).
Don't tell the Austin Diocese it wasn't at Pentecost....
Sophia, you do indeed look beautiful in your confirmation dress. The church you were confirmed in also looks interesting. If you can take a picture of it or find a postcard of it, I would be pleased to add it to my "European Cathedral" collection when you get back.
ReplyDeleteTell Maeve we are also thinking about her - especially Shiloh, Smokey and Rocky who are missing their weekly petting.
Y'all have fun.
GrandMommy
Sophia,
ReplyDeletecongratulations on your confirmation.
